Review of Red Wood King Pipe. History of Vaping

Posted on 22 March 202515 April 2025

This device fell into my hands by accident. Thanks to a respected colleague, I once felt good and very good pipes made in Italy and the USA. Beautiful, elegant, well made. And quite expensive. But I didn’t like them. It’s just that the form factor is not mine.

About a month ago, a friend gave me a link to a device he had his eye on – it turned out to be an electronic pipe. A little later, a familiar seller asked for opinions on pipes as devices for vaping. And just recently, reviews and notes about another pipe began to appear on forums…

What kind of misfortune is this, news goes side by side, and I still haven’t gotten into the swing of things, haven’t gotten high? I decided to take it for a try, in order to take a closer look. online vape shop canada And then there were offers not in a whale configuration (not in a full “starter kit”, without unnecessary poor batteries and the same charger, but only the necessary elements). And at quite reasonable prices too. Nothing to do, just try it…

Equipment

Today I have an extensive battery farm, and I also have good chargers. So I was glad that I was able to take only the basic elements of the device. Of which there were also quite a few:

body (the wooden tube itself);

control button;

adapter/extension 510/510 for using non-recessed evaporators inside the tube (2 pcs.);

mouthpiece (tube format: curved and long) – 2 pcs.;

mouthpiece lining for using recessed evaporators in the tube (2 pcs.);

stand.

This whole set looks like this:

The stand included in the set is quite a useful convenience. It looks like this:

The pipe sits on it quite comfortably. By the way, I looked closely – exactly the same stand from the Middle Kingdom comes in sets with American pipes. One to one.

Appearance

As expected, when assembled, the Red Wood King Pipe really does look like a smoking pipe:

This is what the device looks like when used with cartomizers. Other options will be shown later.

The body of the pipe is really made of wood. I had two pipes that were slightly different in color. One is lighter with a clearly defined wood structure, the second is darker.

Although the manufacturer uses sonorous and promising phrases in the name of its products (“Red Wood”, “Black Sandalwood”, “Purple Sandalwood”) – these are just words. Pleasant to the ears of buyers, but not substantiated by anything. Because the wood used is the most ordinary. And the color of the tube is given by painting/stain, or whatever they do. The fact of artificially giving the desired color is clearly visible when looking inside the part where the connector is located.

On tubes of different colors, untreated surfaces look the same and are not at all “noble”.

And the characteristic smell of good wood was also not possible to smell. More about this below.

Design solutions and technical characteristics

Firstly, this is a mechanical mod. Just a mechanical mod and nothing more. Fans of the “machine” may not like this, connoisseurs of stable volts too. But this is a given for this product, and almost all “more decent” tubes.

Using the Red Wood King Pipe with different evaporators

This device has two “operating modes” with evaporators. First: the evaporator is completely or partially located inside the body of the pipe. Second: the evaporator is completely located outside the body of the pipe.

The cartomizers are hidden inside the pipe with a bang. The manufacturer recommends XL size cards (45 mm long). This is what the set of elements for the cartomizer looks like:

In principle, tasty Bodge cards will also work. But they will have to be “lengthened” with a regular 510/510 adapter.

If the length of the card or whatever will be used is still not enough for the mouthpiece of the pipe to hold tightly in it, you can slightly compact the mouthpiece itself. Then it will fit well into the “gasket” with which the cartomizers are used. When using cartomizers, the Red Wood King Pipe is assembled in the following sequence. When using an evaporator located outside the tube, we take an extension/adapter 510/510 (length of the complete one is 40 mm).

Personal impressions of use

Usually, to get an impression of any device, I use it for at least 12 hours straight. The same was with this one. Although there were some difficulties.

In addition to the fact that the pipe is not very convenient for me personally to use, two design (or rather ergonomic) features did not show themselves from the best side. Secondly, the mouthpiece for this shape of the pipe turned out to be unreasonably curved. Therefore, the hand has to be bent at an unnatural angle. A straight mouthpiece would be more suitable for a pipe of this shape. But you can put up with this.

Firstly, and this is already critical – the button is a very tiny bead, why the manufacturer did this has already been said. So, after 10-15 minutes of vaping, the pad of the finger with which you press this button begins to hurt. After I steamed the required 12 hours for the test – all my fingers hurt. Which did not add any joy to the use.

The lack of stabilization (it is a mechanical mod after all) is unpleasant, but not critical. On Genesis, a voltage change of several tenths of a volt completely changes the taste – on cartomizers and traditional OBATs (Serviceable Atomizers) it is less critical. You just have to press the power button longer.

In general, this creation of the most hard-working part of the population of our planet will not remain in my collection.

Conclusions and recommendations

In principle, the Red Wood King Pipe is not suitable for obtaining true “pipe” pleasure. As you know, you can only cram what can be crammed, and only compare what is comparable. So you should not evaluate this product with an eye on products of a higher price category.

The Red Wood King Pipe is a “competitor” of the DSE601, which it completely destroys. If we use a template comparison of a Zhiguli and a Mercedes, we get the following: in comparison with the DSE601, the Red Wood King Pipe is a Mercedes. In all its characteristics;

in comparison with the above-mentioned expensive pipes.

Which, in principle, was expected.

But still, there are two specific cases for which the use of the participant of this review is advisable. The first: when you just need to check whether the pipe format itself will suit you or not. And it is not convenient for everyone. The second: sometimes for solidity or for some other impractical reasons you need to use a pipe (for example, at the same negotiations, or to go to the opera). Then this device can do a good job. And considering the very low cost – such use of the Red Wood King Pipe is quite justified.
