Review of PURPLE ORCHID E-pipe. History of vaping

Posted on 17 March 202515 April 2025

Dear readers, today I will tell you about the Purple Orchid e-pipe from Limelight Mechanics (Serbia). I haven’t had such positive emotions for a long time… I liked the device so much that after writing the review, I carefully wrapped it up and put it under my tree as a New Year’s gift (honestly, I’m not kidding!).

The participant in the review is a mechanical mod stylized as a smoking pipe. The device uses 18350 batteries, while there is no spring in the power supply circuit. The connector uses an original system for adjusting the positive contact.

I had to get acquainted with different pipes, but none of them made me want to use it constantly. Some of them seemed too large and bulky, in some the grip was uncomfortable, somewhere the button left much to be desired. online vape shop And in the device under consideration, everything is so neat, organic and elegant that the device immediately fell into the category of constantly used ones.

Limelight Mechanics products are manufactured in Serbia (Republic of Serbia).

The participant of the review made such a favorable impression on me also because it is one of the few devices into which the manufacturer “puts his soul”. At the end of the review, I will tell you more about the Limelight team.

Today, Limelight Mechanics produces two types of products: the tubes themselves (bodies) and mouthpieces for them. Moreover, they combine with each other – superbly. Together with the Purple Orchid tube, a long mouthpiece Honeysuckle Arc Long arrived for review. It is their combination that gives the tube-evaporator bundle a finished look.

Let’s get started! PURPLE ORCHID Electronic Pipe – Appearance PURPLE ORCHID Electronic Pipe – Appearance PURPLE ORCHID Electronic Pipe – Appearance PURPLE ORCHID Electronic Pipe – Appearance PURPLE ORCHID Electronic Pipe – Appearance PURPLE ORCHID Electronic Pipe – Appearance

The device is unexpectedly compact and light. After showing the appearance, I usually draw readers’ attention to the decorative elements. In the case of Purple Orchid, the device itself is one large decorative element. All its lines and shapes seem to have been created only to make the product stylish and convenient :).

Of the obvious decoration, we can note the name and logo of the manufacturer, placed above the connector part:

Purple Orchid Connector by Limelight Mechanics

We see that the connector is brass inside. It has four cuts (grooves) for air supply to the evaporators with bottom blowing. In addition, the connector is adjustable, which ensures a tight fit of any evaporators.

This adjustment is realized by making the connector from two parts:

The part into which the evaporator is screwed is installed on the thread of the main part of the connector. And when it is screwed, the evaporator is “pulled” until its positive contact touches the “plus” of the tube connector.

This ensures the absence of a gap on the side of the device and at the same time a tight fit of the evaporator:

The diameter of the narrow part of the connector is 12 mm, the wide one (with which the evaporator comes into contact) is 14 mm.

Purple Orchid Battery Compartment by Limelight Mechanics

The outer part of the battery compartment is made of walnut wood (Juglans, walnut). The ring in which the switch is installed on the thread, and the contact at the bottom of the battery compartment are brass. A Teflon (fluoroplastic) pipe is installed inside the device.

The “plus” from the upper ring with the thread is transmitted along the wire going to the connector under the Teflon pipe. This mech mod does not use a spring. From below, the battery rests with the negative contact against the convex “bottom”, and is pressed by the switch unit from above.

Specifications of Purple Orchid by Limelight Mechanics

dimensions:

tube body height (from the lower convex part to the upper flat part) 52 mm;

length (direction from the connector installation point to the opposite side):

upper part 42 mm;

tapered part 35 mm;

lower part 51 mm;

width (measured perpendicular to the connector):

upper part 36 mm;

tapered part 34 mm;

lower part 37 mm;

batteries used: 18350 with a flat (Flat Top) or convex (Button Top) positive contact. The manufacturer recommends AW IMR. Batteries with protection (they are longer) can also be used, but the switch will not be completely screwed in and will remain “sticking out” above the tube level;

weight of the device 68 g;

materials: the “body” of the tube is walnut wood, the switch unit and connector parts are silumin, the contacts are brass.

The manufacturer offers several versions of the final processing. For wood, this is glossy varnish, matte varnish, natural wax. For aluminum alloy surfaces, polishing (Polish) and satin finishing (Scratch). There is also the option of choosing a mouthpiece. All this should be taken into account when ordering.

The device that participated in the review was treated with natural wax, the other parts were polished.

Impressions of Purple Orchid by Limelight Mechanics

Hmm, I reread the previous text and realized that repeating how much I liked the device and what a pleasant impression it made is unnecessary .

So I’ll just list what exactly led to this assessment.

First: this is not just a neat and well-thought-out device (which is common with many manufacturers), it is a stylish and elegant product. Second: the device is very ergonomic. It fits perfectly in the hand. It is convenient to press the button with both the thumb in a traditional pipe grip and the index finger if you hold the pipe from the side. Third: the mouthpiece! With such a mouthpiece, I feel like Gandalf from “The Lord of the Rings” :). Now and in the future, I will use this combination: Fourth: the weight of the device. For such a design, it is small. Fifth: a convenient button. It works well; the stroke is short and soft. Sixth: the correct (comfortable) angle between the body of the tube and the connector. I have come across tubes that required unnatural twisting of the wrist when using. The products from Limelight Mechanics are much more convenient in this regard. Seventh: despite the rounded bottom, the tube stands firmly on a horizontal surface. Eighth: this is a “spiritual” device. It’s not about beauty and style. I don’t even know how to put it into words. But when you use it, you understand that the manufacturer put passion and love for their business into it.
