Today’s review is dedicated to a small DOVPO TC-50 box mod with temperature control.
You don’t hear about DOVPO very often, there are few reviews of the products on the Internet, although they do exist. As a rule, they are all quite positive, which is very confusing. If the devices are so good, why isn’t the market flooded with them? I don’t know much about the company itself, and I could only find out that it is a “technology integrated company that specializes in R&D”. I don’t know about “Shenzhen Dovpo Technology Ltd. Founded in 2006”, but the fact that the company has been on the e-cigarette market for many years already puts it above many nameless manufacturers. In fact, getting acquainted with the company’s assortment, I remembered that I had seen DOVPO E-LVT in Minsk stores when, at the dawn of my vaping, I was just starting to think about a more capacious battery. The main focus of DOVPO is small “egoshki” and battery mods. It is one of the new battery mods that got into today’s review.
What is hidden behind the name DOVPO TC-50? A small black box, comparable in size to the iStick at 20 or 30 watts, but with the ability to install your own battery, an output power of 50 watts and a really working temperature control.
DOVPO TC-50 Packaging
If DOVPO MINI, the previous box from the company, was supplied in a small case, then our hero comes in a nice cardboard box with a color image of the DOVPO TC-50 itself and a proud inscription Temperature Control. disposable vape The packaging traditionally has all sorts of warning labels (does anyone read them?), a description of the delivery set and a sticker with a verification code for authenticity (are they serious?).
The box contains the DOVPO TC-50 box mod itself, a Micro USB cable for charging, instructions in Chinese English (translated in the same way as the manufacturer’s website) and an unfilled certificate of authenticity (more like a card with a quality control seal). I would like to see a silicone case in the kit, aluminum is a fairly soft metal.
Appearance and design of the DOVPO TC-50
The battery pack itself is very small. It is very difficult to estimate the real dimensions of this little thing from the photographs presented on the Internet. The most obvious comparison would probably be with the 18650 battery used in it.
The case is made of aluminum, painted black. The edges of the front surface are chamfered; the mod has a kind of shiny frame. Here is the inscription DOVPO. Electronic cigarette and the model name TC-50. The box has no cutting sharp edges, all sharp corners are cut off. It lies in the hand comfortably, as much as a rectangular brick can be ergonomic in its shape. The weight is small even with the battery installed.
A 510 connector is located on top. The previous model DOVPO MINI 50, which is visually repeated by DOVPO TC-50 (it seems that both models are even made in the same case), the connector was fixed. The new box is better in this regard: the pin is spring-loaded, made of brass (as is the connector thread) and covered with white metal. The threaded sleeve is raised above the body by tenths of a millimeter, which visually leaves almost no gap between the body and the atomizer, but at the same time does not allow scratching the coating. There are small grooves around the connector, rather for collecting leaked liquid than for the possibility of bottom blowing.

The entire connector is offset and is not located in the center of the box edge, the manufacturer “missed” somewhere by a millimeter towards the lid. The buttons, like the connector, are offset relative to the center of the edge, but in the other direction. All these minor design flaws are a little frustrating, but, in fact, not critical. The buttons have a small stroke with a clearly distinguishable click. The “fire” button has a little bit of play and when you shake the whole device, it barely rattles. You don’t notice it in everyday use because the gap is very small. It presses on the edges as confidently as in the center.
Impressions and conclusions
The device works, there were no problems with the electronic part. No glitches or freezes were noticed during operation.
This is my first device with temperature control. I really liked how familiar aromas behave when the maximum winding temperature is limited. The biggest problem for me was using the DOVPO TC-50 together with the Kayfun4 clone. Due to the constantly jumping resistance in the evaporator itself (the spring in the base), it turned from my favorite atomizer into a headache. I do not recommend using it on such a device with either nickel or kanthal. The box very often simply starts displaying “new coil on/same down” on the device. There were no problems with nickel drippers.
The device does not amaze the imagination with its capabilities, but it does not hide almost any shortcomings. Temperature control in it works, and works well enough, the “cotton wool burning test” passes with flying colors, the wick does not even darken. There are no problems with operation in the variable wattage mode either. The absence of the variable volt mode would not be considered a serious drawback if the manufacturer had not stated it in its instructions. It seems that the board that ended up in the device was not the one that was originally planned there. The differences in the functions and displayed warnings specified in the instructions are minor (for example, “low voltage” instead of “weak battery”), but they exist. Or the manufacturer simply copied the manual from another device, forgetting to make the necessary edits. In general, the instructions are almost unreadable, even those for whom English is their native language say so.
Pros
Quality of processing, coating and assembly
Low weight
Working temperature control
Spring-loaded pin
Replaceable battery
Working time
USB charging
Price
Cons
Absolutely blind screen
Overcomplicated mode control
TTX does not match the declared characteristics
No pastru mode
Works only with nickel
Unclear instructions
Although the device claims “automatic recognition of the evaporator type”, in fact it does not work. The box mod supplies power to the kanthal according to some incomprehensible algorithm, showing that the temperature control is still working. Therefore, switching to the variable wattage mode should be done manually.
In order for me to get the “device too hot” indicator, I had to screw on a drip tip with a resistance of 0.25 Ohm, set 50 watts on the device and maintain a smoke screen in the apartment for about five minutes. Overheating protection worked, it really is here.
I would call the lightweight aluminum case with thin walls a disadvantage rather than an advantage. With intensive use, the box heats up from the atomizer, which has a negative effect on both the electronic filling and the battery. And it is not difficult to imagine what will happen to it if it falls. The coating has not chipped or peeled off anywhere during a week of active use, to be honest, this was very surprising.
Who can I recommend this device to? Probably, to those who want to play with temperature control, have the ability to change batteries and not pay a lot of money for the device. I did not notice any serious disadvantages, the device can be taken as a replacement for some iStick 50W. DOVPO TC-50 is quite suitable for this role. Battery life can also be considered a plus, the device does not turn off at 3.5V, like KBOX Mini from Kangertech. Personally, I did not like the “brick” design and the connector and screen offset from the center. Today, there are devices that are more attractive in terms of ergonomics and performance, but they will cost more.
